The SECO 00013860 is a neutral-hand MTEN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel with a 0.75 inch square shank and an overall length of 4.5 inches, this toolholder accepts TN..33. series inserts secured by a clamp and pin holding method. The Multiple Lock series design provides rigid clamping and repeatable insert positioning. A negative rake angle of -10 degrees suits harder workpiece materials and interrupted cuts where edge strength is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for universal turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous alloys, aluminum, and superalloys — corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, H, and S. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in production turning environments where consistent insert seating and neutral cutting geometry are required. The 0.375 inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension allows straightforward tool-height setup on most standard turning tool posts and quick-change systems.
Designed to accept TN..33. series indexable inserts with a 0.375 inch inscribed circle (insert size code TN33). Manufacturers catalog reference: MTENNS123.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Torque the clamp screw to the insert manufacturer specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key supplied with the toolholder. Verify cutting edge height alignment to spindle centerline before resuming cuts.
