The SECO 00013318 is a neutral-hand SCMC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision metal cutting applications on CNC and manual lathes. Built on the Screw Lock insert holding method, this toolholder accepts CC..21.5. series inserts — specifically the CCMT 21.51 — secured by a single clamping screw for positive, repeatable indexing. The steel body measures 2.5 inches in overall length with a square 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch shank. A neutral rake angle of 0 degrees and neutral cutting direction make it equally suited to right- or left-hand setups, giving shops flexibility across varied turning operations.
This toolholder is intended for external turning operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — hardened materials, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, steel, and high-temperature alloys. The neutral hand orientation suits straight turning and facing passes where a dedicated right- or left-hand holder would limit versatility. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in production and job-shop environments running carbide insert tooling.
Designed to accept CC..21.5. series inserts, specifically the CCMT 21.51 with a 1/4 inch inscribed circle. Compatible insert size code is CC215. Fits tool blocks and turrets bored to accept a 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or indexing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamping screw to manufacturer specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Verify tool centerline height against the spindle centerline before running a test cut.
