The SECO 00012699 is a left-hand MDJN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for CNC and manual lathe turning operations. Built on a 1 x 1 inch square shank and measuring 6 inches overall length, this toolholder uses the Multiple Lock series clamping system — combining a top clamp and locating pin — to secure DN..43. series inserts with a negative rake angle of -6 degrees. The steel construction and negative rake geometry make it suitable for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. Installation is handled by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with indexable tooling setup.
This toolholder is configured for left-hand cutting direction with a -3 degree lead angle, placing it in external turning applications where the tool feeds from left to right across the workpiece. The 0.5 inch insert inscribed circle and DN43/DN44 compatible insert size code support a wide range of universal workpiece materials, including steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and high-temp alloys — corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a single-use, non-coolant-through design intended for standard external turning setups on conventional and CNC lathes.
Accepts DN..43. series negative rake inserts with a compatible insert size code of DN43/DN44 and a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Suitable for universal workpiece materials across ISO groups H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before mounting or adjusting the toolholder in the turret or tool post. Verify insert seating and clamp torque per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines before engaging a cut. Do not exceed the insert or toolholder rated depth of cut for the workpiece material being machined.
