The SECO 00012118 is a right-hand A-MCLN style indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from steel with a 2-inch shank diameter and a 16-inch overall length, it accepts CNMG 543 inserts held by a pin-and-clamp method. The 95-degree lead angle and negative rake geometry (-5 degrees) promote stable cutting action and controlled chip formation during finish and semi-finish boring passes. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore applications.
This boring bar is suited for production and job-shop turning environments where large-bore internal machining is required. The 2.562-inch minimum bore diameter makes it appropriate for medium-to-large diameter bores on steel, cast iron, and similar machinable materials. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC setup technicians working with lathes or turning centers equipped with coolant-through tooling systems. The diamond-shaped CNMG insert geometry supports interrupted and continuous cutting at moderate-to-heavy depths of cut.
Designed for use with CNMG 543 diamond inserts (insert inscribed circle 0.625 inches, insert thickness 0.25 inches) in right-hand turning and boring applications. Compatible with coolant-through tooling systems on lathes and turning centers that accept a 2-inch round shank.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant supply are fully de-energized and depressurized before mounting or changing tooling. The boring bar should be secured in a suitable toolholder or boring head block torqued to machine-manufacturer specifications. Verify insert seating and clamp integrity before commencing a cutting cycle, and confirm through-coolant line connections are tight and free of leaks.
