The SECO 00012116 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for internal boring and turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Carrying the MCLN toolholder style designation, it accepts CNMG 432 inserts held in place by a pin and clamp system for secure, repeatable seating. The bar features a 1 inch shank diameter, a 12 inch overall length, and a minimum bore diameter of 1.28 inches. A negative rake geometry with a rake angle of -14 degrees and a lead angle of -5 degrees is built into the holder design. Coolant-through capability is supported via a 0.125 inch coolant hole diameter, making it suitable for deep-bore applications where chip evacuation and heat control are priorities. Installation requires compatible clamp hardware including clamp CL-20 and lock pin NL-44, with clamp screw XNS-47.
This boring bar is intended for professional machinists performing internal diameter turning and boring operations in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. The right-hand cut orientation suits the majority of conventional lathe setups. The CNMG 432 insert compatibility gives machinists access to a wide range of carbide grades and coatings for machining steel, cast iron, stainless, and non-ferrous materials. At 12 inches overall length with a 1 inch shank, this bar is appropriate for moderate to deep bore depths in medium to large workpieces.
Designed to accept CNMG 432 compatible inserts with a 43 insert size code and a diamond insert shape. Compatible clamp hardware includes clamp number CL-20, lock pin NL-44, and clamp screw XNS-47.
This toolholder is installed and serviced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts or adjusting the toolholder, ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Confirm shank diameter compatibility with the turret or tool block before mounting. Follow the insert manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw to avoid insert movement or damage during cutting.
