The SECO 00008715 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TPG433F geometry, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0472 inch) corner radius, and an insert thickness of 3/16 inch (0.1874 inch). The flat-top chip breaker and honed cutting edge deliver controlled chip flow during high-stress cuts. Rated under material grades S10, S20, and S30, this insert is built for demanding machining environments where consistent tool life and edge integrity are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace and precision shops are the primary users.
This insert is primarily applied to superalloys and titanium workpieces, where uncoated carbide substrates are preferred to avoid coating adhesion failure or edge buildup. Secondary workpiece material codes include M (steel alloys), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), and H (hardened materials), giving this insert broad utility across a production floor. Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG433 insert geometry per ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code TPGN220412). Compatible with multi-use applications including back turning, boring, facing, and turning. Verify toolholder pocket style and clamp type before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and de-energize the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
