This insert is suited for external turning, facing, boring, and back turning on superalloys and titanium as the primary workpiece material. Secondary workpiece compatibility extends to steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials per the secondary material codes. The flat-top design and honed cutting edge style make this insert a practical choice for finish and semi-finish passes where edge integrity and dimensional consistency are critical. Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG-format inserts per ANSI code TPG432 and ISO code TPG220408. Fits standard TPG-flat-top pocket geometry. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and seating clearance before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware when securing the insert to avoid seat distortion. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, burrs, or wear before inserting a new cutting edge, as a contaminated seat will compromise edge life and dimensional accuracy.
