The SECO 00008596 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability when machining steel and stainless steel. It features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/64 inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius, and a 3/32 inch (0.0937 inch) insert thickness. The F1 chip breaker geometry and sharp cutting edge style make it well suited for finishing and light roughing passes. Installed by machinists and toolroom professionals, it mounts via screw-hold clamping in compatible TCMT toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It carries ISO material grades P40, M35, and M40, targeting general-purpose carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel applications. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry support consistent chip control across a range of cutting parameters. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.3937 inch and an insert length of 0.4331 inch, it fits standard production turning setups in both job shop and manufacturing environments. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under ISO code TCMT110204-F1 and industry standard number TCMT21.51-F1.
Designed for use in TCMT-series screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Compatible with primary workpiece materials designated as steel (P) and stainless steel (M) per ISO material classification. Multi-use application includes back turning, boring, facing, and turning operations.
Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure — do not overtighten by hand estimation alone. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination affects repeatability and can crack the carbide.
