The SECO 00008593 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting operations including turning, facing, boring, and back turning. It carries a TP40 manufacturer grade with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal protection during steel and stainless steel machining. The triangular insert geometry features a 60-degree included angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a positive rake for reduced cutting forces. With 3 cutting edges and screw-type holding, it delivers consistent performance in production environments. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and machinists who run CNC lathes or manual turning centers will recognize this as a workhorse indexable insert for general steel applications.
The 00008593 is suited for machining carbon steel and stainless steel in both light and moderate material removal applications. The F1 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during turning and facing passes. Its positive rake and sharp cutting edge style reduce cutting forces, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes. This insert fits standard TCMT-style toolholders and can handle maximum depths of cut up to 0.4134 inches. It meets ANSI and ISO standards and is identified by ISO code TCMT110202-F1 and industry standard number TCMT21.50.5-F1.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Primary workpiece material codes P (steel) and M (stainless steel) per ISO material classification. Material grades P40, M35, and M40 apply. Compatible with back turning, boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid insert movement or screw damage. Inspect the seat and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
