Product Description

The SECO 00008505 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the TP40 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN for improved wear resistance and extended tool life. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake angle, producing clean, consistent cuts. With four available cutting edges and a sharp cutting edge style, it is suited for facing, boring, and turning operations. Machinists and tooling technicians working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.

This insert is intended for use on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. The F1 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during light-to-medium cuts. It fits standard CCMT insert pockets and is held in place by a screw clamp. The CCMT21.51-F1 industry standard number and ISO code CCMT060204-F1 make it interchangeable within compatible toolholders across major tooling systems. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning, facing passes, and internal boring operations on steel and austenitic stainless components.

Key Features

  • TP40 grade multilayer CVD coating: TiC, TiCN, and TiN for wear and heat resistance
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with four cutting edges for extended use
  • Positive rake angle and sharp cutting edge style for reduced cutting forces
  • F1 chip breaker for controlled chip management on steel and stainless steel
  • Screw-clamp insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating
  • Compliant with ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCMT060204-F1

Compatibility

Designed for use in CCMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO code P) and stainless steel (ISO code M), with material grades P40, M35, and M40. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning operations.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Verify insert seating in the pocket before resuming cuts.
