The SECO 00007475 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TNMG series, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining applications. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The insert is 3/16 inch thick and 0.8661 inches in length, with 6 cutting edges available per insert. The MR4 chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style make it well-suited for stable chip control during roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on superalloys and titanium as the primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. The uncoated carbide substrate in grades S10, S20, and S30 is optimized for cutting heat-resistant alloys where coating adhesion or thermal insulation is less critical than edge sharpness and substrate toughness. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it usable on both left- and right-hand toolholders where TNMG-style seating is supported.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept a triangular insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter and support clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Industry standard number TNMG431-MR4 and ISO code TNMG220404-MR4 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting cutting parameters for superalloys and titanium.
