The SECO 00007370 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TNMG-MR4 series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It features a 60-degree triangular insert shape (shape code T), a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The grade 883 carbide substrate is engineered for high wear resistance and toughness, making it well suited for roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals install this insert in compatible turning toolholders for precision material removal. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry provide stability during aggressive cuts.
This insert is intended for use on superalloys and titanium as the primary workpiece material, with secondary applicability to steel, cast iron, non-ferrous, and hardened materials. It supports multiple machining operations including back turning, boring, facing, and turning. The MR4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining passes where controlled chip formation and edge toughness are critical. It is rated under ANSI insert code TNMG322 and ISO insert code TNMG160308, with the Iso code TNMG160308-MR4 also applicable.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting TNMG322 (ANSI) or TNMG160308 (ISO) inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. ANSI insert code TNMG322 and ISO insert code TNMG160308-MR4 are the applicable standards for toolholder selection.
This insert is installed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench per toolholder manufacturer specifications when securing clamp or lever lock hardware. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge registration and cutting geometry.
