Product Description

The SECO 00006000 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120431TR-ME08 in manufacturer grade F40M. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert with a positive rake geometry and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating for wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It has two cutting edges, a corner radius of 0.122 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4567 inches. The effective cutting edge length is also 0.4567 inches. This insert is used by machinists and CNC mill operators in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering primary material codes P, K, and S. Secondary materials include cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The positive rake angle of 20.1 degrees and ME08 chip breaker geometry support efficient chip evacuation during face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on feed and speed selection. The insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is designed for right-hand tool rotation.

Key Features

  • PVD-coated TiAlN and TiN dual-layer finish for thermal and abrasion resistance
  • Positive 20.1-degree rake angle with T-Land cutting edge for reduced cutting forces
  • ME08 chip breaker geometry supports chip control across steel, cast iron, and superalloys
  • Two usable cutting edges per insert for extended tool economy
  • Fine grain carbide substrate in manufacturer grade F40M for edge toughness
  • Screw-mount insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 as specified by the manufacturer. Insert series designation is XOMX-12 with insert size code 120431.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide. Always follow lockout and machine-stop procedures before changing inserts on any CNC or manual milling spindle.
