The SECO 00005994 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation XOMX120416TR-ME08 and manufactured to the F40M fine-grain grade. It features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating engineered to resist heat and wear during aggressive metal removal. The parallelogram insert body has a positive 20.1-degree rake angle and a T-Land cutting edge style, which together reduce cutting forces and improve edge stability. With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-in holding method, it delivers consistent performance in face and shoulder milling applications. This insert is a single-sided, right-hand configuration suited for high-productivity milling on CNC machining centers.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The ME08 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a broad range of feed rates, making it well-suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. It fits the SECO R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 cutter series directly. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations on production machining centers in job shop, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. The insert is ordered in minimum quantities of 10 units per order.
Designed for direct use in the SECO R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code XOMX120416TR-ME08 confirms fitment in any compatible toolholder specifying the XOMX-12 insert series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or damage before seating the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified clamping screw and a calibrated torx or hex driver to achieve proper clamp force without stripping the screw. Verify insert seating and runout with a dial indicator before resuming cutting operations.
