The SECO 00005970 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOEX120404FR-E06, manufactured to the F15M grade with a fine grain carbide substrate. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 27.4 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a sharp cutting edge style. It is PVD-coated with a TiAlN and TiN multilayer finish for wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-in holding method, it is designed for productive milling in CNC machining centers operated by machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is intended for milling applications involving hard materials as the primary workpiece material, including cast iron and non-ferrous metals as secondary applications. The E06 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at the cutting edge. The right-hand orientation and 90-degree included angle suit face milling and shoulder milling operations where precise edge engagement and consistent depth of cut are required. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. Insert size code 120404 within the XOEX-12 series. Conforms to ISO standards under ANSI and ISO code XOEX120404FR-E06.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC milling machines or machining centers. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key torque driver as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when securing the insert screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and edge runout.
