The SECO 00005743 is an octagonal solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer grade F40M and ANSI/ISO designation OFET070405TN-ME15. It features a PVD-applied dual coating of TiAlN and TiN that extends cutting edge life across demanding milling operations. The insert measures 0.7063 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1795 inches thick, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.2795 inches and an effective cutting edge length of 0.2941 inches. Eight cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 18 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style make this insert well suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling. It is a single-sided, neutral-hand insert held in the cutter body by screw clamp.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Primary workpiece material codes are P, K, and S, with secondary coverage for cast iron and non-ferrous metals. It is compatible with the Seco R220.43-07 cutter series and belongs to the OFET-07 series family. The ME15 chip breaker geometry is suited for fine-grain carbide substrate applications where chip control and surface finish consistency are priorities in production milling environments. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians.

Insert seating and screw torque should follow the cutter body manufacturer specifications for the R220.43-07 toolholder. Ensure the pocket seat and clamping screw threads are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Always index or replace inserts with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or deformation each time an insert is indexed.
