The SECO 00005688 is a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for high-efficiency machining of non-ferrous metals. Manufactured to the DCMW32.51F-L1 industry standard, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.3748 inch decimal), and the corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0157 inch decimal). With a bright, uncoated PCD20 grade finish and a sharp cutting edge style, this insert delivers precise material removal in turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations. It is held in place via screw-clamping and provides a single cutting edge per insert.
This insert is suited for CNC lathe and turning center applications involving non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum, copper alloys, and similar materials falling within material grades N10, N15, and N20. It is appropriate for both light and moderate depth-of-cut scenarios with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0701 inch. The flat-top geometry and positive rake configuration make it well suited for high-surface-finish requirements in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing settings are the primary users of this insert style.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for toolholders accepting DCMW-style inserts with a 55-degree diamond shape, screw-clamping holding method, and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping configuration before installation.
Installation of turning inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the PCD substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for debris or wear before seating the insert. Dispose of used PCD inserts in accordance with facility safety and sharps-handling procedures.
