The SECO 00004897 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation SEKR1203AFTN-ME13 and manufacturer grade F40M. The insert is square in shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a neutral hand orientation. A TiAlN and TiN dual coating applied via PVD process provides wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. Key dimensional values include a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, 0.1252-inch thickness, and a 0.0394-inch corner radius. The positive rake geometry (25.5-degree rake angle) and T-Land cutting edge style reduce cutting forces during face and shoulder milling operations. The chip breaker designation is ME13. This insert is designed for face milling and shoulder milling applications where consistent performance across multiple material types is required. Primary workpiece materials include Steel (P), Cast Iron (K), and Superalloys and Titanium (S). Secondary workpiece material compatibility extends to Cast Iron (K) and Non-Ferrous Metal (N). The insert is suited for both production and job-shop environments handling ferrous and exotic alloys. The maximum depth of cut is 0.3465 inches, and the cutting edge effective length is 0.5000 inches. The insert seats via wedge clamp retention, consistent with the R220.13-12 cutter series.
