The SECO 00002696 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from steel with a 5/8 inch (0.625 inch) shank diameter and a 10 inch overall length, this boring bar accepts VBMT 21.5 series diamond-shaped inserts held in place by a screw-clamp method. The minimum bore diameter is 0.84 inches, making it suitable for finish and semi-finish boring of tight internal features. A negative rake angle of -7 degrees and a 93-degree lead angle define the cutting geometry. Through-coolant capability helps manage heat and chip evacuation at the cutting zone.
This boring bar is intended for use in professional machine shop environments — production turning, job shop work, and maintenance machining. It fits the ISO-S series tooling system and is used by machinists running steel, stainless, and other machinable materials on CNC or manual turning equipment. The right-hand cutting direction suits the majority of standard lathe setups. The screw-clamp insert holding method allows fast insert indexing without removing the bar from the turret.
Designed for use with VBMT 21.5 series inserts (insert size code 21.5, diamond shape, 2 inch insert thickness). Fits standard 5/8 inch boring bar holders and turret pockets on CNC and manual lathes.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or adjusting the boring bar. Ensure the shank is seated fully and clamped to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before running. Verify insert seating and screw torque before engaging the cut, and confirm through-coolant passages are clear and unobstructed prior to operation.
