The SECO 00000850 is a carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the 150.10 series standard, it carries the CP600 manufacturer grade and features a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual-layer coating for extended wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert is neutral-hand, neutral lead angle, and uses a size 2.25 insert code with a 16 chipbreaker designation. Overall length measures 0.354 inches and overall width measures 0.088 inches. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible parting and grooving toolholders for high-volume production work.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material (material code O, material grade C5), making it suitable across a broad range of metals in both roughing and finishing parting applications. Typical use scenarios include cutoff operations on bar-fed CNC turning centers in production shops, as well as job-shop lathes running mixed-material work. The neutral geometry and 16 chipbreaker designation help manage chip flow during deep-groove parting cuts. This part is sold individually and requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with 150.10 series parting and grooving toolholders that accept a 2.25 size insert. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm pocket geometry and clamping requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware to secure the insert in the pocket — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and compromise cut quality.
