The SECO 00000218 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMP-MF1 series, designed for precision metal cutting operations including boring, facing, and turning. This insert features a trigon (W) shape with an 80-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The cutting edge is honed and finished with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating in the CP500 grade, targeting long tool life and heat resistance at the cutting zone. With six available cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert delivers consistent performance across a range of material removal applications.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability on steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The MF1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium finishing passes. It is compatible with standard WNMP-style toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. This insert is commonly installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance machining settings where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. ISO code equivalent is WNMG060408-MF1.
Designed for use with WNMP-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning applications on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpiece materials per ISO material grades M10, M20, and M30.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or rotating the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw to prevent insert movement or breakage during operation.
