The SECO 00000175 is a VBMT332-F1 series solid carbide turning insert with a CP500 manufacturer grade and a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The coating is applied via physical vapor deposition (PVD), which delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to finishing operations on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the side clearance is positive with a neutral hand orientation. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible screw-lock toolholders for finish turning, facing, profiling, and back turning applications.
This insert is intended for finishing operations in general metalworking environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. The CP500 grade is rated for steel (P), cast iron (K), and special or super alloys (S), covering material grades M10, M20, and M30. Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and continuous turning passes on stainless steel and similar workpiece materials. The sharp cutting edge style supports low cutting forces, which is beneficial when machining thin-walled parts or work-hardening materials. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing depths of cut rather than heavy roughing passes.
Designed for use in screw-lock VBMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert standards. Suited for primary workpiece materials including stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. Compatible toolholder selection should be verified against the VBMT332 insert geometry and 3/8-inch inscribed circle size.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder specification before taking any cut. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for chips or damage each time the insert is indexed to a new edge.
