The SECO 00000169 is a VBMT331-F1 series solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to grade CP500 with a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, this insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch corner radius. The sharp cutting edge geometry and positive rake angle make it well-suited for light, accurate cuts where surface finish and dimensional control are priorities. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking and precision machining environments.
This insert is intended for finishing passes on stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with additional suitability for steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. Applicable operations include turning, back turning, facing, and profiling. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of toolholder orientations. The CP500 grade is characterized by moderate to high toughness combined with moderate wear resistance, making it adaptable across steel (P), cast iron (K), and special and super alloy (S) material categories.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 35-degree diamond insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and screw-hold mounting. Compatible across applications requiring ANSI insert code VBMT331 or ISO insert code VBMT160404. Suitable for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion halted before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating torque. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and accurate positioning.
