The SEAL-TITE 3172B-041006 is a 30-gauge straight sheet metal boot designed to connect rectangular ductwork to a round collar in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Measuring 4 inches by 11 inches at the plenum opening and transitioning to a 6-inch round collar, this boot provides a direct, leak-minimizing connection between the supply trunk and a floor, wall, or ceiling register. At 30-gauge steel construction, it delivers the structural integrity needed for standard forced-air distribution work. HVAC installers use this fitting during new construction duct runs and replacement projects requiring a straight-entry transition.
This straight boot is suited for residential forced-air heating and cooling systems where a rectangular-to-round transition is needed at the register takeoff. It is commonly installed at floor or ceiling register locations where the duct run terminates perpendicularly to the register face. The 4-inch by 11-inch throat mates with standard rectangular duct sizing, and the 6-inch round collar accepts standard 6-inch round flex or rigid duct.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-construction fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems requiring a 4-inch x 11-inch rectangular-to-6-inch round straight boot transition.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors following local mechanical codes. Power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect before making duct connections. Secure the boot to the trunk duct using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL-listed mastic or metal-foil tape in accordance with SMACNA guidelines. Do not use standard cloth-backed duct tape as a primary sealant.
