The SEAL-TITE 213-12 is a 12-inch drive strap cleat used to connect and secure rectangular sheet metal ductwork in forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from 26-gauge galvanized metal, this drive cleat slides over the mating flanges of two duct sections and locks them together with a tight, low-profile connection. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suited to both conditioned and unconditioned space installations. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators use this cleat during new construction and renovation work wherever drive-cleat connections are specified on rectangular duct runs.
The 213-12 is intended for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where drive-cleat connections are the specified joining method. It complies with applicable industry standards including CCR/Title 24, IECC, HARDI, ACCA, AHREXPO, and ADI, making it suitable for use in jurisdictions that require code-documented duct assembly methods. The non-combustible rating and density of 2 pounds per cubic foot align with insulation and enclosure requirements common in duct system design. This cleat is sized for 12-inch duct flanges and is sold individually.
Designed as a standard drive-cleat replacement and new-installation component for 12-inch rectangular sheet metal ductwork assemblies where drive connections are specified.
Drive cleats are installed by licensed or journeyman HVAC sheet metal mechanics following SMACNA duct construction standards. Power down the air handling system before modifying any duct section. Cleats should be seated fully over both mating flanges and driven tight with a hand seamers or mallet to ensure an airtight joint. Duct connections in conditioned spaces may require sealing with listed duct sealant per local mechanical code requirements.
