The SEAL-TITE 1729-16 is a round duct board spin-in collar designed to create a 16-inch branch connection from a duct board plenum or trunk to round pipe or flexible duct. Tab mounting holds the collar securely in the cut opening without fasteners. A built-in scoop directs conditioned air into the branch run, and an integrated damper allows the tech to throttle airflow for balanced air distribution across zones. This fitting is installed by HVAC technicians during new construction duct fabrication or system modification work.
The 1729-16 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC systems where duct board is used as the primary trunk or plenum material. The collar installs into a field-cut round opening, with the mounting tabs folding over the duct board face to lock the fitting in place before connecting round metal pipe or flex duct to the spigot end. The built-in damper gives the installer direct control over branch airflow without adding a separate balancing damper downstream.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for duct board HVAC systems requiring a 16-inch round branch take-off connection.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before cutting into the duct board trunk or plenum. Use a hole saw or duct board knife to cut a clean round opening sized to the collar spigot diameter, then seat the collar and fold the tabs over the duct board surface to secure. Seal all edges with UL 181-rated tape or mastic per local mechanical code requirements before connecting the branch duct.
