The SEAL-TITE 1729-12 is a round duct board spin-in collar designed to create a 12-inch branch connection point in duct board HVAC systems. The collar installs into a field-cut opening in the duct board and locks in place using integral mounting tabs. A built-in scoop draws conditioned air into the branch run, and an integrated damper provides on-the-spot airflow volume control at the take-off point. This collar connects branch lines of round rigid pipe or flexible duct to the main duct board trunk. HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers use this collar in both new-construction and retrofit duct board systems.
The 1729-12 is suited for residential and light-commercial forced-air distribution systems where duct board serves as the primary trunk material. It is used at branch take-off locations requiring a 12-inch round connection, and is appropriate wherever field-adjustable airflow balancing at the collar is preferred over a fixed opening. The damper allows the installer to fine-tune branch flow without additional balancing hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for duct board trunk systems requiring a 12-inch round branch take-off with tab-mount spin-in installation.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers. Power down the air handler or furnace and ensure the system is de-energized before cutting into the duct board or making branch connections. Cut the opening to the collar diameter per manufacturer layout guidelines, insert the collar, and fold tabs to secure. Seal all duct board connections with UL 181-rated tape or mastic in accordance with local mechanical codes.
