The SEAL-TITE 1729-08 is a round duct board spin-in collar designed to create an 8-inch branch connection from a duct board plenum or trunk to round pipe or flexible duct. The collar installs into a field-cut opening in the duct board surface and locks in place using tab-style fasteners that grip the board without additional hardware. A built-in scoop directs supply air into the branch run, and an integrated damper allows the technician to balance airflow at the take-off point. This is a standard component in duct board distribution systems used in residential and light commercial HVAC installations.
This collar is suited for duct board systems where round branch take-offs are needed at the plenum or along a trunk line. The tab-mount design eliminates the need for sheet metal screws at the collar itself, making installation faster and keeping the duct board surface intact. The included damper makes this collar appropriate for applications where zone balancing or airflow restriction is required at the branch connection point. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators are the primary trades who work with this fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for duct board systems using 8-inch round branch connections to flexible duct or rigid round pipe.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified duct fabricators. Power down the air handler and close the system before cutting into an active duct board trunk or plenum. Cut the opening to the correct diameter using a hole saw or duct board knife, insert the collar, and engage the tabs firmly against the interior duct board surface. Seal all joints with UL 181B-rated tape or mastic in accordance with local mechanical codes.
