The SEAL-TITE 1727-05 is a ductboard collar designed for use in sheet metal and ductwork fabrication. It features a 5-inch diameter opening with a 6-inch crimped length, allowing it to seat securely into ductboard panels and connect to flexible or rigid duct transitions. The crimped end enables a snug mechanical fit that supports proper airflow routing within low-pressure supply and return air systems. This type of fitting is typically installed by HVAC technicians and sheet metal workers during new construction or renovation ductwork runs where ductboard is the primary air distribution material.
This collar is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC applications where ductboard panels ranging from 1 inch to 1.5 inches in thickness are used. It is commonly installed at supply air outlet penetrations, branch takeoffs, or transition points in ductboard trunk-line systems. The 6-inch crimped section allows the collar to be inserted and secured without requiring additional sheet metal tools beyond standard hand tools and duct fasteners.
Designed for use with 1-inch and 1.5-inch ductboard panels in standard low-pressure HVAC duct systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal worker. Power down the air handling system before making any duct penetrations or fitting connections. The collar should be inserted into the ductboard cutout with the crimped end seated fully against the panel face and secured with appropriate duct fasteners and foil tape per local mechanical code requirements. Do not overtighten mechanical fasteners against ductboard facing material, as this may compromise the panel integrity.
