The SEAL-TITE 1279-041006 is a 4 x 10 inch elbow register boot designed for basement and ceiling register installations in residential forced-air duct systems. The boot features a 6 inch round collar inlet and ships with 16 inch rails that support secure register or grille attachment. The elbow configuration redirects airflow from a vertical duct run to a horizontal face opening, making it the standard choice when a floor or ceiling register must align with a joist bay or beam layout. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors use this fitting when finishing out supply duct terminations in new construction or replacement work.
This boot is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air supply applications where a 6 inch round duct feeds a 4 x 10 inch register opening at a floor, ceiling, or exposed basement joist bay. The elbow geometry is appropriate when the duct drops from above or rises from below and must turn to face the conditioned space. The included 16 inch rails are pre-fitted to accept standard 4 x 10 inch register covers without additional modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-construction fitting for residential forced-air supply systems using 6 inch round duct terminating at a 4 x 10 inch register opening in floor, ceiling, or basement applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handler and confirm the system is de-energized before cutting into existing ductwork or securing the boot to framing. The boot should be fastened securely to the joist or subfloor framing and all seams sealed with listed duct sealant or foil tape per local mechanical code requirements. Do not operate the system without the register cover in place, as the open boot face creates a pressure loss and a debris ingestion risk.
