The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMLR495-10ELA is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal UNC threads in a 3/4-10 profile. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with AlTiN+, this tool delivers heat and wear resistance needed for demanding milling operations. It features 4 right-hand flutes, a 0.495-inch cutting diameter, and a 1/2-inch shank diameter. With a 1.75-inch length of cut and 4.0-inch overall length, the long-reach geometry allows access to deeper thread profiles. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling applications where single-point threading or tapping is not practical.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread milling on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. The long-reach configuration makes it appropriate for through-hole and deep blind-hole applications where standard-length thread mills cannot reach the required thread depth. The UNC 3/4-10 specification targets common fastener threads found in structural, mechanical, and industrial assemblies. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or air blast should be applied as the setup allows.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with helical interpolation capability for cutting internal UNC 3/4-10 threads. Compatible with standard 1/2-inch tool holders including ER collet chucks and end mill holders.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC thread milling and helical interpolation programming. Ensure the tool is securely seated in a balanced, properly sized holder before operation. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will affect thread quality and tool life. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting up and running carbide cutting tools.
