The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMLR4-.7MMELA is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal metric threads in a single helical pass. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN+ coating, this tool handles the demands of threading hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It cuts M4 x 0.70 metric coarse threads with a 0.12-inch cutting diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut. The long-reach design and 2.5-inch overall length make it well-suited for threading holes in tight or recessed areas. Machinists and CNC operators use this tool in production and precision machining environments.
This thread mill is intended for internal threading applications on CNC machining centers using helical interpolation. The right-hand flute direction and 3-flute geometry support consistent chip evacuation and thread form accuracy. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and other materials where carbide tooling and AlTiN+ coating provide a thermal and wear advantage. Coolant-through is not supported, so flood or mist coolant delivered externally is the standard approach for this tool.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation for cutting M4 x 0.70 metric coarse internal threads. Minimum nominal bore diameter of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) is required for proper tool clearance and thread form.
Installation and operation of this thread mill should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling specialist. Confirm the spindle, toolholder, and machine are in good working order and that the tool is properly secured in a 1/4-inch collet or compatible holder before running. Program helical interpolation at conservative feed and speed parameters during initial setup, and verify thread form with a go/no-go gauge after the first pass. Do not use this tool for external threading or in manual drill-press applications.
