The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMI370-32H is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal UN threads at 9/16-32 (32 TPI). It runs four right-hand flutes in a long-reach configuration, allowing it to produce full thread profiles in a single helical pass. The cutting diameter is 0.3700 inches with a length of cut of 0.8880 inches and an overall length of 3.0000 inches. The shank diameter is 0.3750 inches. Built from submicron carbide grade with a bright/uncoated finish, this tool is suited for precision thread milling on CNC machining centers where tap breakage is a concern or where thread size adjustability is required.
This thread mill is intended for internal threading applications producing 9/16-32 UN threads in materials compatible with uncoated solid carbide tooling. The long-reach design accommodates deeper bores or features with limited radial clearance. Typical applications include precision machined components in aerospace, hydraulic, and instrumentation work where thread form accuracy and surface finish are critical. Coolant-through is not available on this tool, so external coolant or mist systems should be used to manage chip evacuation and heat during the cut.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation to produce 9/16-32 UN internal threads. Compatible with standard 3/8-inch tool holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit systems. Refer to the machine tool manufacturer and cutting data recommendations for feeds, speeds, and radial stepover values appropriate to the workpiece material.
Thread mills must be run on a CNC machining center with helical interpolation capability - this tool cannot be used in a manual drill press or tapping head. Secure the 0.3750-inch shank in a balanced, low-runout holder to maintain thread accuracy and tool life. Power down the spindle and confirm the tool is fully seated before tightening the holder. Use external flood coolant or mist to clear chips from the bore during the cut, as this tool does not have coolant-through capability.
