The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMI234-24HA is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal UNF threads in CNC machining applications. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN+ coating, this tool delivers consistent thread quality in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It cuts a 5/16-24 thread profile with a 0.2340-inch cutting diameter, runs at right-hand flute direction, and features a long-reach design that allows access to deeper thread zones. With 3 flutes and 24 teeth per inch, it balances chip evacuation with cutting stability. Machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing, aerospace, and industrial fabrication shops will find this tool well-suited to demanding threading work.
This thread mill is configured for internal thread milling on CNC machining centers. Its 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets and other common toolholding systems used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 5/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length accommodate long-reach applications where standard-length thread mills cannot reach. It is appropriate for use in production environments requiring repeatable, on-size UNF internal threads without the rigidity demands of a solid tap.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation; fits standard 1/4-inch shank toolholders including ER collet chucks. Cuts 5/16-24 UNF internal threads per input specifications.
Thread milling requires a CNC control capable of helical interpolation - confirm program compatibility before setup. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist lubrication directed at the cutting zone; this tool does not support coolant-through delivery. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for solid carbide thread mills in the workpiece material being machined.
