The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMI120-28HA is a helical flute thread mill engineered for cutting internal 10-28 UNS threads in precision machining applications. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, this tool delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for threading hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.1200 inches with a length of cut of 0.3360 inches, and the tool features an AlTiN+ coating for enhanced heat resistance and tool life. With a 1/4 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 2.5000 inches, it fits standard CNC toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Three right-hand helical flutes provide smooth chip evacuation during the milling cycle.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread milling operations in CNC machining environments where a tap would be impractical or where thread quality and runout control are critical. The long-reach configuration allows access to deeper bores or recessed thread features. It is appropriate for use in job shops, aerospace component machining, and precision manufacturing where 10-28 UNS internal threads are specified. Machinists and CNC programmers working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and similar materials will find the AlTiN+ coating particularly well matched to the application.
Designed for internal 10-28 UNS thread milling operations on CNC machining centers using standard 1/4 inch shank toolholders. No coolant-through capability; external or flood coolant delivery is recommended.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 1/4 inch shank in a properly sized collet or toolholder and verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and helical interpolation parameters in the CNC program prior to engaging the workpiece. Do not use in manual or non-CNC setups where helical interpolation is unavailable.
