The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TM5-.8MM is a straight flute thread mill designed for cutting internal Metric Coarse threads to the M5 x 0.80 standard. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, this tool delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for consistent thread form in production and job-shop environments. It runs a 0.14-inch cutting diameter with a 0.391-inch length of cut, making it well suited for threading shallow-to-moderate depth holes in a single helical pass. The bright (uncoated) finish is appropriate for use in a range of common workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working with metric fastener specifications will find this tool a direct fit for M5 threaded hole applications.
This thread mill is used in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. It is applicable to residential and commercial toolroom work, precision manufacturing, and maintenance machining wherever M5 x 0.80 metric coarse internal threads are required. The 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and other common toolholding systems found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. No specific compatible machine models are stated by the manufacturer beyond the toolholding and thread standard criteria noted here.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, with toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch shank. Intended for cutting M5 x 0.80 Metric Coarse internal threads.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC programmer familiar with thread milling cycles and helical interpolation. Confirm the toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excess runout will directly affect thread quality and tool life. Program the helical interpolation pass per the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the tool if chipping or wear is observed.
