The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TM450-12HA is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed to cut both internal and external 5/8-12 UN threads in a single helical toolpath. It runs 4 right-hand flutes ground from submicron-grade carbide and carries an AlTiN+ coating for heat and wear resistance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cutting diameter is 0.4500 inches with a 1.1170-inch length of cut. Overall length is 3.5000 inches and the shank diameter is 0.5000 inches. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments where a single tool must handle both thread forms.
The TM450-12HA suits CNC machining centers capable of executing helical interpolation moves. It is appropriate for threading applications where the nominal minimum bore diameter is 0.6250 inches. At 12 teeth per inch it produces a UN-standard thread form on internal bores and external diameters alike. It does not require coolant-through capability, making it compatible with a wide range of standard spindle interfaces and tool holders. Typical applications include threading holes in steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast materials where tool consolidation and thread quality are priorities.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation; compatible with 5/8-12 UN internal and external thread applications requiring a 0.6250-inch minimum nominal diameter.
This tool is set up and operated by machinists or CNC programmers on 3-axis or higher machining centers. Confirm the machine control supports helical interpolation before programming the thread cycle. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder rated for the shank diameter and verify runout before cutting. Follow the tool manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material; do not use this tool on manual mills or lathes.
