The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TM235-32A is a straight flute internal thread mill designed to cut 5/16-32 UNEF threads in a single helical pass. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN+ coating, it delivers consistent thread quality in ferrous and non-ferrous materials across high-cycle production environments. The tool runs on a 1/4 inch shank, measures 2.5 inches in overall length, and carries a 0.235 inch cutting diameter with a 0.669 inch length of cut. Three straight flutes provide clean chip evacuation in blind and through-hole applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in milling centers for precise internal thread generation.
This thread mill is suited for precision machining operations requiring UNEF internal threads at 5/16-32. Typical applications include aerospace, automotive, and industrial component manufacturing where thread tolerance and surface finish are critical. The tool is appropriate for CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers capable of helical interpolation. The straight flute geometry makes it a practical choice for short-chipping materials where staggered tooth designs are unnecessary. Coolant-through is not supported; flood or mist coolant applied externally is standard practice for this tool class.
Designed as an OEM-style thread mill for CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, accepting a 1/4 inch shank tool holder and programmed for 5/16-32 UNEF internal thread cycles.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup technicians. Secure the 1/4 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Program the machining center for helical interpolation using the 0.235 inch cutting diameter and 32 TPI pitch values provided by the manufacturer. Do not use this tool in manual milling operations or in machines that do not support helical interpolation, as improper motion will damage the thread form and the tool.
