The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TM110-32A is a straight flute thread mill designed for cutting internal UNC threads from number 8 to 32 TPI. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for precision thread milling in production and job shop environments. The tool features three flutes and an AlTiN plus coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and hard materials. With a 0.11-inch cutting diameter and a 2.5-inch overall length, this thread mill handles tight-clearance bores efficiently. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators use this tool on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread applications in ferrous metals, stainless steels, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. It is commonly used in CNC thread milling operations where a single tool must produce a clean, accurate UNC thread in a drilled or bored hole. The 0.325-inch length of cut accommodates standard thread engagement depths for number 8 to 32 applications in both prototype and production runs. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist external coolant delivery is the standard approach for chip evacuation during the cut.
Designed for CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation; cuts internal UNC thread form from number 8 to 32 TPI with a 1/4-inch straight shank compatible with standard ER collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders sized for 0.25-inch shank diameters.
Thread mills require a CNC control with helical interpolation capability - confirm the machine and CAM program are configured for the correct thread pitch and climb direction before running. Secure the 1/4-inch shank in a balanced, low-runout toolholder to protect edge life and thread accuracy. Power down the spindle and confirm the tool is fully seated and clamped before measuring or adjusting tool length offset. External flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone to assist chip evacuation, as this tool does not have coolant-through capability.
