The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS MS33649-4SA is a porting tool engineered for spotfacing and port preparation on tube fittings conforming to AS 5202 and MS 33649 standards. It produces a precision-machined seat surface with a 0.888-inch spotface diameter, sized for 1/4-inch tube OD applications in Dash 4 configurations. The tool features a plain pilot design, 4 straight flutes, and an AlTiN+ coating that extends cutting life in ferrous and hard alloy workpieces. With a 30-degree seal angle, it prepares port faces to meet the angular sealing requirements specified by AS 5202 and MS 33649 UNJF-threaded port standards. Licensed machinists and aerospace or hydraulic system technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This porting tool is used when preparing tube port faces in hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-system assemblies that require precision spotfaced seats. Typical applications include MIL-spec and aerospace plumbing, high-pressure hydraulic manifolds, and industrial tube fitting installations where AS 5202 or MS 33649 port geometry is required. The tool is suited for use on tube workpieces where a flat, accurately sized spotface must be generated around a drilled or threaded port opening before fitting installation.
Designed for port preparation on tube workpieces conforming to AS 5202 and MS 33649 standards, specifically Dash 4 configurations with 1/4-inch tube outside diameter. Thread type is UNJF.
This tool is installed by a machinist or qualified technician in a milling machine, drill press, or CNC machining center using a 1/2-inch toolholder. The workpiece must be securely fixtured and the port bore properly aligned with the tool pilot before engaging the cut. Power down and lock out all equipment before changing tools or inspecting the spotface. Do not force the pilot into an undersized bore, as this can damage the pilot and compromise spotface concentricity.
