The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS GFR030K-6A is a solid carbide full radius grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations in tight-bore applications. Constructed from submicron-grade carbide, it delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy when cutting precise full-radius grooves. The tool features a 3/16 inch shank diameter, a 0.0305 inch groove width, and an overall length of 2 inches. Machinists and toolroom professionals use this tool in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where a clean, radiused groove profile is required in small-diameter bores.
This grooving tool is suited for internal grooving in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 0.187 inches and a maximum hole depth of 0.375 inches. The 0.050 inch projection and 1.625 inch shank length make it appropriate for controlled-depth grooving in close-tolerance applications. It is typically used in precision machining environments including aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking shops where repeatable groove geometry is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use grooving tool for standard 3/16 inch shank internal grooving toolholders used in CNC turning and manual lathe applications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and all motion axes at rest. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder to the manufacturer-specified clamping method before running. Verify bore diameter meets the 0.187 inch minimum before entry to avoid tool contact with the bore wall during approach. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fail without visible warning if damaged.
