The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS B080400A is a submicron solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal diameter machining in tight bore applications. It delivers a minimum bore diameter of 0.08 inches and a maximum bore depth of 0.4 inches, making it well-suited for small-hole finish boring where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 1/8-inch shank diameter and 1.5-inch overall length keep the tool compact for use in confined setups. An AlTiN+ finish coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. Right-hand cutting geometry is standard.
This boring bar is used in CNC turning centers, lathes, and small-bore machining cells where precise internal finishing is required. Typical applications include small hydraulic components, medical device parts, aerospace fittings, and instrumentation housings that demand tight bore tolerances. The submicron carbide grade provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for fine finishing cuts at small diameters where insert tooling is not practical.
Designed for use in CNC lathes and turning centers with toolholders accepting a 1/8-inch shank boring bar. Verify minimum bore diameter clearance and maximum depth requirements against the specific application before installation.
This tool is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly secured before mounting the bar. Confirm shank clamping torque meets toolholder manufacturer specifications. Avoid side-loading the bar beyond its rated bore depth, as small-diameter solid carbide tools are sensitive to deflection and breakage.
