The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS ACD5151E is a solid carbide boring insert engineered for precision internal turning and boring operations in demanding machining environments. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN+ coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance at elevated cutting speeds. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a 0.015-inch corner radius, a 0.156-inch inscribed circle (IC), and a neutral cutting direction. At 0.04 inches thick with a 15-degree relief angle, it is sized for compact boring heads and precision boring bars. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this geometry for consistent surface finishes and tight dimensional tolerances.
The ACD5151E is suited for boring and internal turning operations on cast iron, steel, and superalloy workpieces. Its neutral hand makes it adaptable across a range of boring head orientations. The E-type chipbreaker promotes chip control in both light and moderate depths of cut. Screw-style insert holding provides secure seating and repeatable edge positioning during high-precision boring cycles. This insert is appropriate for both CNC machining centers and manual boring mills where tight bore tolerances are required.
Designed for use in ACD-series boring heads and boring bars that accept screw-held diamond-style inserts with a 0.156-inch inscribed circle and screw-style clamping. Intended for machining cast iron, steel, and superalloy workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before insert indexing or replacement. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the boring head manufacturer's specified torque range. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper registration. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine tool OEM guidelines during tooling changes.
