The SCHLAGE b660-b-622 12-296 is a single-cylinder deadbolt built around Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) technology, supplied less core for facilities that manage their own keying program. The lock ships ready to accept any standard SFIC cylinder, making it a practical choice for commercial and institutional properties where controlled access and rapid re-keying are priorities. The backset is field-adjustable between 2-3/8 inches and 2-3/4 inches, allowing installation on a wide range of door preparations without special hardware. Finished in 622 (US19 Black), it meets ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 requirements for heavy-duty commercial use. Installation is performed by licensed locksmiths or qualified door-hardware technicians.
This deadbolt is suited for commercial, institutional, and multi-tenant residential applications where master-key or large key-system management is required. The SFIC format is widely used in schools, hospitals, government facilities, and office buildings. Because the lock ships without a core, the facility manager or locksmith can install an existing SFIC core from their current keying system, eliminating the need to re-key or replace hardware across the opening. The 622 Black finish coordinates with contemporary commercial door hardware schemes.
Designed as an OEM-style commercial deadbolt for doors prepped to standard ANSI A115 specifications with a 2-3/8-inch or 2-3/4-inch backset; accepts any standard Small Format Interchangeable Core cylinder.
Installation and core insertion should be performed by a licensed locksmith or qualified door-hardware technician familiar with SFIC keying systems. Verify door preparation dimensions and backset measurement before installation. Follow local building codes and ADA hardware requirements where applicable. Do not force the SFIC core into the plug without confirming the control key is engaged, as improper insertion can damage the core or the lock body.
