The SCHAEFER BRUSH 42974 is a single stem, single spiral tube brush built for cleaning the interior of pipes, tubes, and cylindrical passages. Fitted with Tampico fiber bristles, it delivers moderate abrasion suited for removing deposits, residue, and debris from tube walls without damaging softer bore surfaces. The brush measures 5 inches in diameter with a 4.5-inch brush length and an 8-inch overall length. The 1/4-inch NPSM male connection allows it to be threaded onto standard extension handles or cleaning rods, making it practical for service techs who need reach and torque control in confined or hard-to-access tube runs.
This tube brush is suited for plumbing, HVAC, and general mechanical service applications where tube and pipe bore cleaning is required. Typical uses include clearing scale, flux residue, and soft buildup from copper, PVC, or light-gauge metal tubing during maintenance or pre-inspection work. The Tampico fiber construction makes it appropriate for applications where metallic wire bristles would score or contaminate the bore surface. It is used by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance trades working on residential and light commercial systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use tube brush compatible with standard 1/4-inch NPSM threaded cleaning handles and extension rods used in plumbing and HVAC pipe cleaning applications.
Thread the 1/4-inch NPSM male connection securely onto a compatible handle or extension rod before use. Ensure the system or line being serviced is depressurized, drained, and isolated before inserting the brush into any pipe or tube bore. A licensed plumber or HVAC technician should perform cleaning on pressurized systems in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines. Do not force the brush through a bore smaller than the rated brush diameter, as this can splay the bristles and reduce cleaning effectiveness.
