The SCHAEFER BRUSH 09547-12 is a power fitting and cleaning brush designed for deburring, cleaning, and preparing copper tube fittings and connections in refrigeration and plumbing systems. Built from carbon steel, it features a 1/4 inch hex shaft stem that seats directly into a drill or power screwdriver, making it a fast and consistent alternative to hand-cleaning fitting interiors. The inside diameter of the brush is 0.625 inches with an actual brush diameter of 0.8125 inches, sized to fit a 3/4 inch refrigeration outside diameter fitting. The overall length is 3.125 inches. HVAC and refrigeration technicians rely on this type of brush to remove oxidation and debris before brazing or soldering, ensuring a clean mating surface for leak-free joints.
This brush is suited for residential and light commercial refrigeration and HVAC work where 3/4 inch OD copper fittings are standard. It is commonly used during system installation, repair, or component replacement any time a fitting must be cleaned prior to joining. The hex shaft stem allows the brush to be driven by a standard power drill, reducing prep time on high-volume jobs. Plumbers working with copper supply lines of the same diameter will also find it applicable for solder-joint preparation.
Designed for cleaning and preparing 3/4 inch refrigeration outside diameter copper fittings. Suitable for use with any 1/4 inch hex chuck power tool.
This brush is installed and used by licensed HVAC-R technicians and plumbers during fitting preparation before brazing or soldering. Insert the 1/4 inch hex shank into a compatible drill or power driver and run the brush through the fitting interior to clean the mating surface. Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating rotary brushes. Follow applicable refrigerant handling and brazing procedures per local mechanical codes before opening or working on refrigerant lines.
