The SANDVIK COROMANT 8351831 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precise edge preparation and chamfering operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. With a 5.00 mm cutting diameter and a 0.10 mm chamfer width at a 45-degree chamfer angle, this tool delivers consistent, repeatable corner breaks on machined components. The four-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while the TiAlCrSiN PVD coating extends tool life in demanding ferrous applications. It is a single-end, centercutting tool suitable for CNC machining centers and milling operations requiring controlled chamfer geometry.
This end mill is built for roughing and finishing passes on steel and cast iron in precision manufacturing environments. The Series 2P342 designation targets ISO material groups P (steel) and K (cast iron), making it a fit for job shops, aerospace component manufacturers, and general metalworking operations. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet and end mill holders. Its regular-length configuration and 11.00 mm length of cut suit shallow-to-mid-depth chamfering on a wide range of part geometries.
Designed for use on steel (ISO material group P) and cast iron (ISO material group K) workpieces. Catalog series 2P342, manufacturer catalog number 2P342-0500-PA. Fits standard straight-bore collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before torquing the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the cutting diameter with a dial indicator before beginning the machining cycle. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material group.
