The SANDVIK COROMANT 8173327 is a solid carbide micro drill bit from the CoroDrill 862 series, designed for high-precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 0.09 mm diameter with a 137-degree point angle and a TiAlN Lite coating that extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The overall length is 2.16 mm with a flute length of 1.20 mm and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1181 inches. Through-coolant capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management at the cutting edge, making this drill suitable for use in CNC machining centers and precision production environments.
This micro drill is intended for steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to material codes P and M in the ISO classification system. It is suited for high-precision drilling operations where tight tolerances and controlled chip flow are critical. The spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut configuration make it a standard choice for automated CNC drilling cycles in precision component manufacturing, aerospace part production, and medical device machining where sub-millimeter hole diameters are required.
Rated for primary use in steel (ISO material code P) and secondary use in stainless steel (ISO material code M). Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision drilling equipment with through-coolant spindle capability and appropriate micro-diameter toolholding.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out. Use a collet or toolholder rated for the 0.1181-inch shank diameter and verify runout before initiating a drilling cycle, as excessive runout at micro diameters will cause premature breakage. Confirm that through-coolant pressure is set appropriately for the machine and application before use. Follow the tooling manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the CoroDrill 862 series when programming cutting parameters.
