The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037664 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. Built on the CoroMill Dura series platform, this single-end tool features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and three flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The variable helix design reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. Material grade H10F carbide provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC milling environments.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and light profiling operations in shop and production environments. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The bright/uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern, such as certain aluminum alloys or when cutting fluids are used to manage heat. The 3-inch overall length and 3/8-inch shank diameter fit standard ER and side-lock toolholders commonly found in production and job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide square end mill within the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, compatible with standard 3/8-inch straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and side-lock holders used on CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Verify that the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the toolholder style in use, and confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
