The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037459 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built on the CoroMill Dura platform, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 0.25 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a variable-helix, variable-index configuration. This geometry reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during aggressive cuts. The bright, uncoated finish suits use with compatible cutting fluids on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers typically specify this tool for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge precision and surface finish matter.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers handling medium to large workpieces where a long length of cut is required. The 3.25 inch length of cut and 6 inch overall length make it practical for deep-pocket and deep-wall milling operations. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1 inch in diameter, compatible with standard ER and hydraulic toolholders at that bore size. Single-end configuration and centercutting capability allow plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in CNC machining centers accepting a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank; confirm toolholder bore and projection requirements before ordering.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or lockout state. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge-length mark before torquing the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial test indicator after setup; excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and reduce surface finish quality. Follow applicable machine shop safety practices and the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines.
